Cate Ray knew from a young age that she wanted to be a writer. A daydreamer, she was passionate about storytelling in all its forms. Today, her suspense thrillers are sparked by real-life conversations, giving them an accessible relatable core that her readers love.
Her US debut, Good Husbands, was a Barnes & Noble Booksellers’ Favourite, earning her recognition as a writer who could pack an emotional punch, whilst shining her trademark light on inequality, power imbalances, secrets and fears.
Prior to that, she was the author of four suspense novels published in the UK as Cath Weeks. Her debut, Blind, was longlisted for the Waverton Good Read award and she was named an Author to Watch by ELLE.
Born and raised near Bath in Somerset, England, Cate studied English at university. After winning first prize in a national writing competition, she set her heart on becoming an author. On the road to publication, she self-published two novels, earning a following of loyal fans, and her prize-winning short story was produced and broadcast by the BBC.
Cate lived in London and Paris, working in magazine publishing for Travel Weekly, FHM, Country Living and Cosmopolitan, before returning to the beautiful city of Bath where she lives with her husband and two sons. When she's not writing, she loves chatting to people, always on the lookout for her next story…
