About Cate

Cate Ray writes compelling suspense with empowering messages. She takes dark subjects and shines a light on them in a unique blend of grip-lit that's relatable, hopeful. Passionate about writing from a young age, she creates stories for readers to treasure and share. 

Her North America debut GOOD HUSBANDS received great acclaim, including Barnes & Noble Booksellers' Favourite. Her new book, stand-alone thriller THE YOUNGER WOMAN will be released in February 2025.

Prior to this, she wrote 4 suspense novels as Cath Weeks. Her UK debut BLIND was longlisted for the Waverton Good Read award and she was named an Author to Watch by ELLE.  

Born and raised near Bath, UK, Cate wrote stories as a child and studied English for her Bachelor’s degree. She began training as an English teacher, but left the course after winning first prize in a national writing competition. On the road to publication, her prize-winning short story was produced and broadcast by the BBC. 

Cate lived in London and Paris, before returning to Bath, where she lives with her husband and two sons.
